Why Caribbean Businesses Struggle on Social Media – And What to Do About It
October 6, 2026
Most Caribbean businesses have social media pages. Very few of them are working.
The followers are not growing. The posts are getting little engagement. New customers are not coming through the page. And the business owner is spending time on it that they cannot afford to spend.
The problem is almost never the product or service. The problem is almost always one of these.
Problem 1: Inconsistent posting
The algorithm on Instagram and Facebook rewards consistency above almost everything else. Businesses that post sporadically – three posts one week, nothing for two weeks – get penalised in the feed. Their content is shown to fewer people each time they post.
The fix is a regular, committed schedule. A minimum of three to four posts per week on a consistent basis.
Problem 2: The content is about you, not for them
The most common mistake Caribbean businesses make on social media is posting content that promotes the business rather than content that serves the audience. Product photos with prices. Opening hours. Service announcements.
Your audience follows pages that make them feel something – informed, entertained, inspired, seen. The businesses that grow on social media are the ones that post content their audience finds genuinely useful or genuinely interesting.
Problem 3: No clear call to action
Every post needs to tell the reader what to do next. Visit the website. Send a WhatsApp. Call the number. Book a table. Without a clear next step, even interested customers keep scrolling.
Problem 4: The visual quality is inconsistent
Your social media page is your brand in motion. If the quality of what you post varies – some professional graphics, some phone photos with no editing, some text posts that look rushed – it sends a signal to potential customers that the business is not consistent.
The real fix
The businesses that have active, growing social media presences almost always have one thing in common: they are not managing it themselves. They have handed it to someone who does it properly, consistently, as their actual job.
At Edynamics, we manage social media for Caribbean businesses across Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas. Content creation, scheduling, engagement, strategy – all of it. One monthly arrangement. You focus on the business.
